Message from your local Bilborough ward Councillors

The lockdown has been a challenging time for the council and our local community. We appreciate the effort and commitment Bilborough residents have made in helping to slow the spread of the virus and save lives. We also understand the reduction in income loads of people are facing and the delays in processing benefit payments.

As local Councillors we have been ensuring the latest information is getting out and continuing to support Bilborough residents and supporting local volunteer initiatives. The Council, voluntary and community groups and mutual aid groups have been working hard to support those in need- picking up shopping, collecting prescriptions and delivering meals to our most vulnerable and isolated residents.

This community spirit shows what can be achieved when we work together, give up time to help others and develop support networks covering the area. It makes our communities stronger, and this is despite the unprecedented challenges facing each and everyone of us. Together we will get through these difficult times.

Finally we thank all those key and essential workers who have continued to turn up to work and keep vital services running during the crisis - NHS staff & careworkers, those who empty our bins and deliver our mail, serve in our shops and drive our buses & trains. All the volunteers & supporters who have delivered, driven & befriended. So many have contributed in a huge collective effort and we thank them all.

While we have reached a new phase in the lockdown, safety remains the priority. Keep looking out for the guidance we issue locally, take care and keep staying safe.

"Cllr Phil Jackson, Cllr Rebecca Langton and Cllr Wendy Smith"
