This afternoon the Massachusetts legislature is holding hearings on a bill that would establish vote by mail for the 2020 election.

Maura believes a comprehensive vote-by-mail system will make our elections safer and more equitable. We can’t go back to “normal” after this crisis. That normal was unequal, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated those inequities. Voting has long been too difficult in this country, with people of color, people with disabilities, and low income individuals facing the highest barriers to casting their votes. It’s time we address these inequities head-on.

That’s why Maura supports automatic vote-by-mail. Every single voter should be mailed a ballot for the 2020 elections.  Other states across have already adopted mail-in voting. It’s time we add Massachusetts to that growing list.
