Dear John,
Donald Trump – based on his first term and his claims that climate change is a hoax – represents the biggest threat ever to climate progress in the U.S.
But I am writing to you today to make it clear that when it comes to tackling climate change, we are never deterred. We are determined.
With your support, we will fight with every tool in our toolbox to resist his efforts to gut our hard-won climate progress.
As you consider your own priorities in this chaotic political landscape, I hope you’ll support our critical work and take advantage of a $2-for-$1 match offered by two long-standing EDF supporters.
This means your gift of $25 becomes $75 … $35 becomes $105 … and $50 becomes $150 — so you can make triple the impact in our fight against Trump’s extreme policies.
We need you with us now more than ever.
With your support, here are 3 big areas of focus we will continue to advance in 2025 even as our legal and political teams are busy defending the progress we’ve already secured:
All-In on Tackling Methane. We are the first environmental organization to launch a satellite, MethaneSAT, which is now collecting methane pollution data with unprecedented precision and scale. We will make the data available to help hold companies and governments accountable as we work with them to plug the leaks and slash pollution.
Build to Zero. In our race to confront the climate crisis, we are working to decarbonize America’s electricity grid. We will defend new federal rules on energy transmission and site permitting to more efficiently modernize and expand America’s transmission infrastructure.
Harness the Power of Nature. We can’t reach our climate goals without halting and reversing deforestation by 2030 and protecting our soils and wetlands. That’s why we’re working with Indigenous Peoples and forest governments to leverage $1.5 billion of high-integrity forest carbon credits to save over 2.5 million hectares of tropical rainforests.
There is no question that Trump’s victory will force us to play defense, especially as it relates to defending the historic climate laws, the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, as well as life-saving clean air standards.
That means our legal and political affairs teams will need your help, new resources and reinforcements – now more than ever.
Tackling climate change is too important for us to ever back down, no matter what. Please donate to help us defend the progress we’ve already made and support new initiatives to advance climate solutions.
