Dear ,
We began our campaign nearly a year ago, and on Tuesday, we brought home a resounding victory for the citizens of District 28! So many of you stepped up and helped us along the way to make this win possible. Thank you to all of you who donated generously.
We ran a 100% positive campaign, focusing all of our time and resources on engaging voters to better understand their concerns and to present real solutions to make Pennsylvania an even better place. Those in and around the PA-28 know that we were faced with an onslaught of negative ads on TV, mailboxes, and digital. While we outspent $730K to $290K (that’s a 2.5 to 1 ratio), our 150+ volunteers stepped up to make the difference. Our tremendous ground game included collecting signatures in the cold of January to get our campaign on the ballot, handwriting postcards and envelopes, knocking doors, waving signs, talking with neighbors, and standing outside polling places for 13 hours. I could not have done this without you! I am so very proud of our amazing team!
While the race ended last night, the most important tasks now begin. We need to work together to build up our state and region to be even better places where we can all thrive. I know Western PA is one of the best places in the country to live and raise a family. We have the world’s best workforce, first-class educational and cultural institutions, hospitals second to none, natural resources all around us and below us, and outdoor activities that abound in every season. We should be one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S., yet high taxes and burdensome regulations drive people and jobs away. The work starts today to change that. I will hold firm to our values while working with Republicans and Democrats in the legislature and administration on solutions to help grow Pennsylvania and continue to improve our region.
Finally, as an engineer, I am a numbers person. For those of you who love the numbers as much as me, let me share some with you. First, with all mail-in and in-person votes counted, we won 57.06% to 42.84% (23,037 to 17,295 votes)!
Here are some more great numbers for you:
● 700+ signatures to get on the ballot
● 50,000+ handwritten postcards and hand addressed, stuffed, sealed envelopes sent
● 18,000+ doors knocked
● 50+ events attended across PA-28
● Over 150 volunteers engaged to bring this victory home!
Once again, our focused strategy on presenting clear solutions and connecting with every resident in PA-28 to understand their concerns and priorities coupled with our amazing volunteers delivered our outstanding results on November 5th!
