Indivisibles,

Lots of people have reached out to us asking why the election turned out this way, what the next steps are, and how we will resist a second Trump administration. We can’t say we have all the answers right now, but we do want to share this clip of Ezra on Maddow last night, which we believe can get the conversation started in the right direction:

We know you’re already hearing competing theories for both what happened in this election and how the broader pro-democracy movement should move forward. But right now, if there’s one message that sticks with you, we hope it’s this: We still have power and that power lies in the community we’ve built over the last eight years.

Together, we were able to stop Trump from repealing the ACA, we saved healthcare for millions of Americans, and then we won the largest midterm margin in U.S. history. Grassroots organizing was key to resisting Trump before and it will be again. But before any of that work can begin, we have to process, grieve, and regroup with each other.

At this moment, Trump wants us to feel isolated and powerless. But if we cave in to those feelings, all we will be doing is ceding more power to MAGA. The best way to counteract those feelings is to join in solidarity with other people who share our values, our beliefs, and our conviction to defend democracy.

So whether you’re still in the process of grieving or you’re raring to take action -- or somewhere in between -- we have two actions for you to take when you’re ready:

  1. Join, rejoin, or invite a friend to join your local Indivisible group. One thing that Indivisible offers that few others can is a space to connect with other like-minded people in your community. That connection is the foundation to our organizing and it will be crucial in the fight ahead. And if you can't find a group in your area you can email our support team [email protected]
  2. Pitch in to support the movement. People are responding to this moment in a big way. Indivisible groups are growing. New ones are starting up. Now is a critical time to support local, grassroots organizing across the country, and we can’t do that without your help.

We’ll have more to say soon -- and we’ll have a new Indivisible Guide next week. For now, the most important thing we can do in the fight to defend our democracy is to lean on each other.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

P.S. -- Make sure to register for our movement call on Wednesday, November 13 at 8:30pm ET/5:30 PT where we’ll be rolling out our new Indivisible Guide.
