As we come off a hard-fought election, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support over the past two years, John. I am both humbled and honored to continue serving South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District in the House. Thank you to the voters of SC-06 for once again expressing your confidence in my efforts to make America’s greatness accessible and affordable to all.
John, the race for the White House and Senate did not turn out as we hoped, and the outcome of the battle for the House Majority is yet to be seen.
I will not sugarcoat this -- another four years of Donald Trump in the Oval Office is devastating. I know our country will survive this, but will it thrive? If his new Administration implements the policies it has been proposing, then Trump will take us back to a near-Jim Crow era. It has happened before, and it can happen again.
I don’t say that to scare you. I say it to strengthen our resolve for the fight we have ahead of us. As Congressman for South Carolina’s 6th District, I promise to once again fight back against the worst impulses of a Trump Administration. And I promise to continue fighting for good-paying jobs and educational opportunities for our children; to lower the costs of health care and connect every home and business to fast, affordable broadband; protect Social Security and Medicare for seniors; and so much more.
Our fight for those values will be tougher in this political landscape, but that makes it all the more important that we keep going. We must continue to advocate for justice, equality, and progress. Together, we must remain vigilant and steadfast in our pursuit of a more perfect union.
As a dedicated supporter who stuck with us these past two years, I know you will be there every step of the way. We have stood together, fighting for the values that matter most, and we will continue to do so.
Jim
