It’s Tara from Roe Your Vote Virginia here. I know it’s been a while since we last talked, but we have been doing a lot of exciting work behind the scenes at Roe Your Vote Virginia, and with this week’s election results, I had to reach out.

We are devastated by the outcome – with Americans electing a dangerous, anti-choice President who will surely take our nation back decades. In this time of fear, I wanted to remind you that there is still something we can do to protect abortion access in Virginia, and we must move fast.

That is why we are proud to introduce the next phase in our mission: To enshrine abortion rights in Virginia’s constitution.

Thanks to your support, Roe Your Vote Virginia emerged as a pivotal force in the 2023 General Assembly elections, propelling abortion-rights candidates to victory and highlighting Virginians’ support for reproductive freedom. Now, building on this momentum, we will be launching an ambitious campaign to secure a constitutional amendment that enshrines access to abortion.

This work has never been more critical. This year, our Republican Governor, Youngkin, vetoed a bill that would have ensured the right to access and use birth control in the state. That is just one example of the latest attacks on reproductive rights in our state and goes to show how critical it is that we work together to fight back.

We know just how stressful this election cycle has been, but here in Virginia, we can never afford to take time off when it comes to keeping politicians out of our personal reproductive health decisions.

I will be in touch about the next steps. But for now, I wanted to thank you for your ongoing support as we enter this next phase in our mission.
