The people of IL-17 have spoken—and they’re sending their neighbor back to Congress!
Thank you, Central and Northwestern Illinois, for your trust and support. And thank you to each and every one of you who’s been by our side in this re-election campaign. To the volunteers, donors, staff members, and our incredible friends in organized labor: YOU are the reason we won this race.
I also understand if not everything feels like celebrating today, given the presidential result. No matter how you feel this morning, we all must find our strength. Because we have work to do.
We will continue to fight for our rights.
We will continue to fight for equality.
We will keep our sights ahead.
We will believe that it gets better.
We will listen to advice.
We will show up to do good work.
We will help others as we go.
We will lead with compassion.
We will walk with grace.
We will speak when we’re wronged.
We will lend our voice to the speechless.
We will continue to learn.
We will believe only facts.
We will remember our mistakes.
We will push harder.
We will love when others hate.
We will care for those who need help.
We will demand our nation be better.
We will believe in our purpose.
We will walk together.
And we will move forward with all of the above, not some.
Onward, for our democracy. For our rights. For the people.
