Join ASBN leading the way to a just economy

Friend,

Full disclosure: our regularly scheduled first Thursday newsletter just didn’t feel right to send today. You will find it in your inbox next Thursday. Our team and I felt the need to bring together our community. My usually positive can-do attitude honestly feels very deflated these days, and while there is no hate in me, there certainly is fear over what the next four years may bring for our economy.

However you voted in this election, I think we can all agree that this election, and frankly the last eight years, have been hugely polarizing and divisive for the country. Let us not forget that right now, there are over 68 million Americans who are feeling disenfranchised, and scared.

In business, as in most things, both fear and hate are the wrong motivators for making smart, informed, and strategic decisions. However, for the values we share of an equitable transition to a just and sustainable economy, we’re about to enter four very hard years, my friends. When the checks and balances of powers are upended with one party controlling the presidency, the Senate, and possibly the House, as well as an extremely conservative SCOTUS, our responsibility to ensure a sustainable economy and human rights are prioritized over political interests becomes even more necessary.

I am here to say that no matter what happens, at ASBN, we are not okay with America and its people and businesses being systematically oppressed and forced into hardships. We are not okay with policies and actions that undermine our natural systems upon which we depend. We are not okay with willingly inciting crashes to our markets. We are prepared to work across party lines, as we always have, on policy and advocacy to ensure that the policies that might lead to economic ruin for sustainable businesses and brands, small to large, do not get implemented.

Right now, today, we need to come together to strengthen ASBN as the foremost action and advocacy-based business community that is leading the way forward to a just and sustainable new economy that works for all.

My pledge to you is that over the next four years, ASBN will be the voice of common sense and critical thinking. We anticipate that there will be numerous proposed regulations and policies that will affect small to medium businesses. With your support ([link removed]) , we promise to:

1. Advocate for those policies that are in the best interest of a new, just and sustainable economy;
2. Host virtual gatherings to discuss how this new political landscape can be navigated and see that businesses are educated to advocate for themselves;
3. We will work hard to fight and block laws that are unjust, anti-business and anti-sustainable and responsible economy; and lastly,
4. When new and challenging regulations come, we will work with our community to find the best ways to move through them together while also holding true to our shared values.

This is ASBN’s commitment to you, but we cannot do it alone. We need your help to turn this commitment and the massive amount of work ahead of us into a reality.

Whether by a $75 token of your appreciation for the work before us, a $465 commitment that shows you’re solidarity with us, or an endowment to propel the work forward through the next four years and beyond, we are asking everyone, whether you represent small, medium or large businesses, networks or organizations, whether grassroots or corporate, to signal to us with your support today that we are not alone in this effort.
Signal your commitment. ([link removed])

Again, any support will help us ensure we have the resources to move the needle and reinforce through your donation that we are not alone. We are ready to do the work for you. Your support will strengthen our resolve to be a powerful force for good and help us come together, no matter the odds, to stand up and lead the way forward to a just and sustainable new economy.

There is no other network positioned so well to work across political divides and advocate for the policy changes needed to continue to lead the way forward on climate change, clean energy, clean water, regenerative agriculture, inclusivity and democracy and lead the way forward to a just and sustainable new economy.
Invest in the new economy. ([link removed])
