Team,

First and foremost, I want to thank you for being with us, being engaged, and putting in the hard work to elect Democrats down the ballot for the past 2 years.

I know that, nationally, this was not the result we were hoping for, working for, and expecting. And it’s easy at this moment to revert into the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty of the rhetoric we’ve been hearing since these campaigns started.

I urge you to reject those fears as much as you are able. Take some time to rest and recover, but we have work ahead of us to bring about a brighter future, and a more promising America.

We can’t afford to give up, because that’s what the GOP and MAGA extremists are hoping we’ll do.

While the news may have seemed grim yesterday, I want to take a minute to address our many victories from Election Night: 1.
Flipped

McLean
County
Board

Democratic
control
for
the
first
time
ever
.
2.
Picked
up
seats
(including
county-wide)
in
Kane
County.
3.
Elected
IDCCA
Boot
Camp
Alum
Monica
Gordon
as
the
new
Cook
County
Clerk.
4.
Re-elected
the
Lake
County
State's
Attorney
and
IDCCA
Boot
Camp
Alum
Eric
Rinehart.
5.
Re-elected
Fulton
County
Chair
Laura
Kessel
to
the
Fulton
County
Board.
6.
Picked
up
the
last
Republican
controlled
countywide
office
in
Champaign
County.
7.
Held
all
the
Democratic
seats
in
the
state
legislature.
8.
Held
all
of
our
Democratic
congressional
seats.

As of right now, we also have a few races that are still too close to call. Vote By Mail ballots and provisional ballots will be processed in two weeks. After that, we’ll have a clearer picture of where we gained or held important down ballot offices.

My point in telling you this is not to put a rosy glow on what happened, it’s to remind you our work is far from over. We’ve elected strong fighters across our state who are prepared to take the incoming administration head on if they come for our rights and freedoms. This is why our work matters, and our work is not over.
