While Tuesday’s results did not turn out the way we had hoped for, I would like to take a minute to tell you something uplifting, something that cannot be negated by anyone or anything: We stood up for Good; We were Honest; We were Positive, and all of our communications were based on the Truth.
You all were a reflection of that spirit. That's why I am, and will forever be, in awe of your dedication, and so incredibly thankful for your unwavering support.
And most of all, I am inspired by your courage and fortitude.
This is my first time participating in an election where my name was on the ballot. Before the opportunity to run for this seat came up last year, I had never given serious thought to running for elected office.
And now that the campaign is officially over, I can say with absolute certainty: you, the supporters who show up, who roll their sleeves up and do the work, who contribute hard-earned money—YOU are the driving force behind a campaign like ours.
Do not ever forget the role you play, and absolutely still must continue to play, in promoting our values of protecting democratic power, respect for the rule of law, and a genuine American freedom afforded to everyone—not just those who agree with us or support us.
These values will now be tested in ways we have never seen before. And the only way we will endure this is by remembering who and what we fight for: Our children. Our families. Our neighbors. In short, each other.
