John–
Tuesday night was devastating.
Make no mistake: Trump's extremist agenda is a danger to our nation. The next four years will not only bring significant challenges for our gun safety movement, but will undoubtedly put the freedoms of our communities—particularly Black and brown people, women, and LGBTQ+ folks—directly at risk.
When Trump took office in 2017, the NRA was ready to take over Washington and pass a bill allowing people to concealed carry in every state. But we organized, we fought back, and we blocked its top federal priority.
When Trump refused to mitigate the threat of ghost guns, we sued the ATF.
And when Congressional Republicans stonewalled federal legislation, we doubled down on our state strategy to pass lifesaving laws from coast to coast.
Now, facing the reality of a second Trump term, we have no other choice but to keep fighting.
In the coming weeks and months, we'll organize like our lives depend on it—because they do. Volunteer to join our fight for a future free from gun violence.
Our movement of over 10 million supporters is ready to fight like hell against President Trump and his gun lobby allies if they attempt to undo our progress. And with the overwhelming majority of Americans who support strong gun safety laws behind us, we will win.
So between the feelings of grief and heartbreak this week, I'm taking time to celebrate some glimmers of hope from down-ballot races across the country.
Together, we helped elect dozens of local, state, and Congressional lawmakers who are committed to ending this crisis—including survivors of gun violence and so many of our own volunteers.
If this work has taught me anything, it's that the momentum of the gun safety movement can't be stopped. We can and will overcome this—together.
Thanks for being in this fight. We'll be in touch soon.
