The Democratic Attorneys General Association

Hey team, this is Lottie from DAGA.

Tuesday night was hard — there’s no doubt about it. I hope you know it’s okay to mourn, be angry, or feel numb right now.

In spite of everything, I am so incredibly grateful to this grassroots team. Because of your support, North Carolina elected Jeff Jackson to be the state's next Attorney General. AG-elect Jackson will use his experience to combat crime, fight the fentanyl crisis, and defend the rights and freedoms of everyone in his state, and I can’t wait to see all that he accomplishes. Thanks to this team, we kept Dan Bishop — an alt-right extremist, architect of the bathroom bill, and co-sponsor of the Life at Conception Act — out of the AG seat in North Carolina.

I’m also so proud to congratulate Democrats Nick Brown of Washington and Dan Rayfield of Oregon on winning their races, and Vermont AG Charity Clark on her re-election. We’re going to need talented, strong Democratic AGs now more than ever.

On behalf of everyone at Team DAGA, I also want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris, Governor Tim Walz, and their entire team for running a strong and powerful campaign. They ran on unity over division, love over hate, and progress over regression. Though this is not the outcome we hoped for, we are immensely grateful for Vice President Harris’ leadership. Vice President Harris broke glass ceilings to get to where she is today, and as we look to prepare for the fights ahead, there is so much to be proud of these past four years.

Finally, I want to thank Eugene DePasquale and his team for running an impressive campaign for Pennsylvania AG. While the results were not what we wanted, we are so proud of the campaign he ran. Eugene has always put Pennsylvanians first, and I have no doubt that he will continue to fight for them.

I’ll have more to share in the coming days about how we can support AGs – they’ll be more important than ever. But right now, please take care of yourselves and each other.

In solidarity,

Lottie Ash
