National Hospital Week
Dear Friend
During National Hospital Week, I just wanted to take a minute to highlight the hardworking men and women in Iowa’s hospitals who have been on the front lines during this battle against COVID-19.
Since the outbreak of this pandemic, America’s hospitals have been put to the test. I am proud to say that in Iowa, we have some of the best and brightest health care workers in the world, who have risen to the occasion to care for Iowans and fight this virus.

Caring for You
I’ve spoken with health care providers and workers across the state about their needs and concerns, and, in turn, I fought hard in the Senate to ensure our health care community received critical funding in the bipartisan relief packages we passed. I also urged the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately assist rural hospitals and clinics by prioritizing funding for these critical health care providers.
Earlier this month, I helped secure over $383 million for Iowa’s rural health care providers. This builds on earlier relief I helped garner for Iowa’s health care community through the CARES Act, which totaled over $336 million for Iowa, as well as supplemental funding of over $11 million for the state’s community health centers.
In addition, after calling for action, I helped secure a fix that ensures publicly-owned hospitals with 500 or fewer employees like many rural, county-owned hospitals throughout Iowa are eligible for the relief provided through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
Thank You
I know this has been a difficult time for Iowans and folks across the country, but it’s also shown the resilient spirit that makes our state and nation so great. When we defeat this virus, it will be large in part because of our hospitals and the tireless work of the health care professionals who keep them running.
During this National Hospital Week, I want to say thank you and God bless you.
Stay safe and stay strong.
