Hi Friend,
As you likely know, the results of the presidential election did not go as we hoped. Our country has selected Donald Trump to be the next president, and we must honor that choice
That doesn’t mean we will compromise on the values that we hold dear. In fact, we must now fight harder than ever for the causes that matter.
We know who Donald Trump is. We know what his values are and what he will try to do.
We must fight with everything we have against any attempt to harm America.
If he tries to restrict reproductive rights, we will resist.
If he tries to cut access to health care, we will resist.
If he tries to raise taxes on the middle class while lowering them for the rich, we will resist.
If he tries to reverse the crucial climate gains we’ve made in the last four years, we will resist.
If he tries to bring down the pillars of our democracy, we will resist.
We’ve fought him before, and we’ve won. But we can only do that by every single person doing their part over the next four years.
This loss hurts. It hurts that the values we share didn’t win, and it hurts knowing that folks that too often get left behind will likely suffer more.
But I’ve been in politics for a long time. There have been moments of defeat and moments of darkness, but there is always hope.
Every day, we make choices big and small that collectively determine the future of our country. You can choose to organize and volunteer for local candidates. You can choose to make your voice heard against legislative changes that concern you. You can choose to learn more about your neighbor and give them a helping hand when they need it.
The fight for justice never ends. We’re in this together.
Onward,
Peter
