While votes are still being counted in Arizona, it’s clear the American people have elected Donald Trump as the next president.

This isn’t the result we wanted or expected. I supported Vice President Harris as many of you did, but like her, I respect the decision of the voters.

At a time when our country is deeply divided, my job as a Senator is to represent Arizona and uphold our constitution – and that’s what I’ll continue to do. I’ll work with anyone when it’s best for our state and our country, but I’ll never compromise on our values or principles — and I’ll never stop fighting for what is right.

Our institutions are resilient and will endure beyond the outcome of any one election, even this one, as long as we are willing to defend them.

When a shooting robbed Gabby of her career in elected office, she didn’t let it define her. She inspires me every day with the dedication she brings to both her recovery and her fight to make our country a safer place. As Gabby reminded me this morning, "We’re up for the challenge."
