Especially during a time in which cause for celebration can seem elusive, I am delighted to share the news that The Opportunity Agenda will welcome Adam Luna to our senior leadership team next month. Adam will join the organization in late June as Vice President, Program Strategy and Impact, after serving for seven years as Senior Advisor at United We Dream.

Adam’s more than 20 years of experience as a strategist, movement leader, and communications specialist will bring our already outstanding team to a new level of expertise and impact. His background working in myriad contexts and movements, combined with his passionate commitment to justice and liberation from systemic oppression, make him a wonderful fit for our organization.

Prior to his work at United We Dream, Adam served as Political Director at America’s Voice and Director of External Affairs at Community Change. At each stage of his career, Adam developed a wealth of knowledge and experience in what it means to be an effective campaign and political director, as well as a developer of leading-edge communications content and strategic plans. His work includes, but is not limited to: creating and implementing campaigns that stopped Social Security privatization and other important economic opportunity programs; leading mobilizations and grassroots campaigns on a range of issues; developing and advancing proactive communications and narrative shift strategies; and building and leading United We Dream’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) implementation program.

In his current role at United We Dream, Adam serves as a senior strategist on politics, communications, leadership development and organizational growth. At United We Dream, Adam has been a leader in developing rapid response as well as long-range narrative shift strategies to ensure that the voices, hopes, and dreams of the organization’s more than 800,000 members are heard and acted upon. Throughout his career, Adam has brought the voices of directly impacted people into the mainstream and has developed new and creative ways to advance progressive campaigns for equity, human rights and justice. Adam’s proven record of building organizations, campaigns and movements will be invaluable as The Opportunity Agenda builds for a new phase of work to equip social justice leaders with the skills, content and research needed to be effective communicators and leaders of narrative change.

I am beyond thrilled to welcome such a trusted and tested social justice leader to our team. Adam’s acumen, work and reputation precede him, and The Opportunity Agenda is elated to benefit from his leadership.
