We’re going to spend months, years, attempting to diagnose “what went wrong.” The video above offers a few of my reflections on the structural disadvantages that Democrats are indeed contending with right now; issues that we need to confront if we’re committed to real change.
But here is some practical advice for you right now—today. Take care of yourself. Make sure you have a community of people around you. Eat and drink and sleep. And, while I know this is going to be hard, it’s the most important one: do not disengage. Take some time. Take days or weeks. Take the holidays. But do not check out completely. Do not reward the worst people by giving them exactly what they want.
We need every person to remain for the fight ahead. We have to stay in this. Together.
