I am honored and humbled to be elected by my fellow Texans to represent the 21st Congressional District here in the Texas Hill Country – the best part, of the best state, in the greatest country in the world. Our district turned out more than 263,000 Republican votes for Trump and Cruz – the most of any district in Texas.
This election was a time for choosing between two world views and I am pleased, but not surprised, to see my constituents choose the path of sanity, security, and prosperity over the tyranny, negativity, and economic ruin offered by radical progressive Democrats.
I do not take this mandate lightly. Every Republican who won last night must realize that the American people rightly expect us to deliver this time. If we don't “do what we said we would do” and take aggressive action to secure the border, to cut spending, to restore energy and healthcare freedom, to make our military dominant but sparingly used, and to put the American people back in charge of their lives, the Republican party will deservedly go the way of the Whigs.
The time has come. No more excuses. Failure is not an option.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your trust, your support, and your unwavering belief in a brighter future for Texas and America. I am grateful beyond words for the opportunity to serve you.
