John, it’s Aaron Rouse.

By now, you’ve likely seen the election results from last night. Donald Trump clinched the presidency, Republicans will take the Senate majority, and the fate of the House lies in the balance.

I want to thank Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and the incredible volunteers and staff who helped make her historic campaign possible.

Now, if you feel the way many Americans do right now, you’re frustrated and fearful of what’s to come.

Be disappointed, not defeated.

I’m urging you to take time for yourself as we face this new reality. I also want to assure you that, regardless of which party controls our government, I will always stand firmly with you in the struggle for freedom, security, and justice for all.

I didn’t step into politics because I thought it would be easy. And right now, we have a choice. We can sink into despair, or we can choose to take action.

I’m ready to keep looking forward with hope and determination in my run to be Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor. The stakes have never been higher, and knowing that fact only strengthens my resolve.

Moments like these remind us of what we’re up against — but more importantly, what our work is for.
