Hi John, I won’t sugarcoat how today feels: it’s a hard day as we process the unfolding outcomes from yesterday’s election. Right now, millions of votes in California are still being counted. Proposition 5, the transformative statewide ballot measure that would update outdated rules for how communities can pass local housing and infrastructure bonds, has not been called. The Associated Press reports that about 50% of the expected votes have been counted. As we wait for the final outcome of Prop 5, I want to share my heartfelt thanks to everyone for your hard work and support. I am grateful that we are all part of this movement to address our communities' critical affordable housing needs. We will hear more information from the Prop 5 campaign in the coming days. We remain committed to standing together to bring the change and transformation that our neighbors and communities want. No matter the final outcome of Prop 5, we’re in this together and we won’t give up until everyone in the Bay Area is housed and thriving. |
