Dear John,
I won’t try to hide it. I’m heartbroken and scared by the outcome of the election. I’m sure you are too.
Trump’s victory makes America less safe for millions of people -- especially for those who were already marginalized and most at risk.
In the days to come, I will have more to say about specifically what we can do to resist the Trump-Vance administration -- how we can protect the people in harm’s way, and how to preserve and reclaim our democracy.
Today I just have this message for anyone grieving or frightened.
All I can say to reassure you is that time and again, Americans have opted for the common good. Time and again, we have come to each other’s aid. We have resisted cruelty.
We will get through this together.
