Friend,
The results are in, and while it’s not what we wanted, I am so proud of the work we’ve done since we launched our Senate campaign over a year ago.
We couldn’t have gotten this far without your support and hard work, friend.
Together, we reached out to voters all around the state and traveled millions of miles. And right now, I’m thinking about all of the Floridians I met along the way who felt that same sense of importance to do right by our country:
The woman in Pinellas who was a Republican, but voted for me because she was tired of the hate and wanted to move forward.
The small-business owner in Fort Myers Beach who was fighting for climate action and lower insurance rates after his store faced hurricane after hurricane.
The first-time voter in Miami who cast her first ballot for me after becoming an American citizen this summer.
The college student in Gainesville who was supporting me in his first election even though his entire family was voting Republican.
And the women and men all around Florida who are in the fight for reproductive freedom.
I’m honored to have been the first Latina Democratic nominee for Senate in Florida.
And I know that these losses are hard, friend. But we cannot give up that sense of hope and joy that pushed us throughout this campaign. I know that we moved the needle, and while it may not be our time this year, we must refuse to give up in the fight for our rights and freedoms.
I know that every Floridian involved in this fight will continue to say no más to the hatred and division, and will hold Scott and Trump accountable at every turn. The fight for our freedoms doesn’t end today — it is just beginning.
It has been the joy of my life to fight for you and your family.
Thank you,
Debbie
