John -

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the very real feelings we all have
right now. Many of us are grieving, fearful, and overall uncertain of what
a second Trump presidency will likely bring.

But now is not the time to give up hope, John. Now is the time
to hold one another in compassion and love, and protect our communities.
It’s time for people of privilege to rise up to support and protect Black,
Indigenous, Trans, immigrant, and communities of color on the frontlines
of Trump’s hateful attacks.

Now is the time to have faith. Worldwide, people have risen to defend
their communities against authoritarian regimes throughout history — and
we will do the same in the U.S.

We’ll keep using every tool at our disposal — lawsuits, peaceful protest,
direct action, and building power from the ground up — to push back
against his harmful policies and model the America we deserve.

In Trump’s first term, we learned how to combat his shock doctrine and
deception. From ramming pipelines through Indigenous lands to gutting
environmental protections, to emboldening white supremacist militias,
Trump’s agenda has been nothing short of an all-out assault on the most
vulnerable among us. His message is loud and clear: If you are not part of
his vision of America — a white, Christian nationalist ethnostate — you
are expendable.

But despite his division and hate, our movement grew stronger, more
resilient, and more creative, and we’ve only honed our skills in the years
since. We’ve fought this fight before, and we know we can fight it again.

The path ahead feels murky, and many of us are exhausted, terrified, and
unsure of how much more we can take. But we won’t give up. Not now. Not
ever. The fight for climate justice, racial justice, and a better future
is as urgent as ever, and we won’t back down.

We have hope because as we have seen in the past, we know that in the
absence of competent federal leadership, communities come together to
support each other. We’ve seen this in our mutual aid networks, in our
local and state-level victories, and in our work to create equitable,
sustainable solutions in the face of rising threats. We’ve seen this
elsewhere in the world, where communities are practiced in fighting under
authoritarian regimes, and we can learn from them. And while we know
Trump’s presidency will be a battle, we know we have the power to create
the future we deserve.

We also have to demand action in these critical final days of the Biden
administration. We will call on Biden to strengthen U.S. climate
commitments, starting at COP29 next week, and hold him accountable to the
promises he made to protect our planet and our communities.

It’s time to dig in, keep pushing, and take bold, collective action. The
majority of people in this country and around the world are committed to a
livable, just future, and we will not compromise our vision for that
future.

We’ll be in touch soon with urgent opportunities to take action — because
the work continues, and together, we will win.

With solidarity and love,

Jeff Ordower - 350 Action
