Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Cheryl Sinacola and Jarrod Robertson, and reappointed Gregory New to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. The Council advises the Governor on crime stoppers programs throughout Texas and is responsible for certifying local programs, making them eligible to receive reward payments and probation fees as outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Cheryl Sinacola of Fairview is the vice chair of the Crime Stoppers USA Board of Directors and co-chairs its Training and Awards Committees. Additionally, she is a board member of the North Texas Crime Commission and serves as president of the KickStart Kids Dallas Community Board.
Jarrod Robertson of Amarillo is a 22-year veteran of the Amarillo Police Department and has been the coordinator for Student Crime Stoppers (SCS) of Amarillo for six years. He is also a member of the Tobacco Free Amarillo Board and Andrea’s Project Board of Directors.
Gregory New of Waxahachie, who has been reappointed, serves as a police officer and crime stoppers coordinator for the Grand Prairie Police Department. He is affiliated with the Texas Municipal Police Association, Grand Prairie Police Association, and Thomas B. Hunter Masonic Lodge #1356. New also serves as the chair of the Texas Crime Stoppers Council.
These appointments bring extensive experience and commitment to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council, furthering efforts to enhance local crime prevention initiatives statewide.

Nominations are now open for the annual Texas’ Best Awards, to be presented at the 29th Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Campus Conference on February 18, 2025!
Certified Texas Crime Stoppers Campus organizations in good standing are encouraged to participate in this year’s competition, which celebrates the outstanding efforts, commitment, and dedication to the mission of solving and preventing crime on Texas campuses during the 2023-2024 school year.
Use one entry form for each category and label each supporting item with your program name and competition category. All entries are due by close of business Friday, December 27, 2024.

The Texas Crime Stoppers Ambassador Program is a student-based leadership program for youth involved in their local Crime Stoppers community.
Each ambassador is assigned a month to submit an article in the Texas Crime Stoppers newsletter. The topics may include, campus program success stories, an interview with their Student Resource Officer or a board member, community engagement, editorials on leadership, mentoring, or student motivation.

The Texas Crime Stoppers Team is looking for local programs to host a conference. Programs are expected to host a multi-day training in order to be considered as a host site. Grant funding is available to offset costs related to Crime Stoppers training events.
