John —
We founded COURIER to give local communities a trustworthy, pro-democracy news source—so people have the truth to fight back against the lies and hate tearing our country apart.
Last night, sadly, lies and hatred prevailed.
Like you, we’re devastated and deeply worried about what a second Trump presidency means for our country and the world. This moment is especially hard for women, immigrants, people of color, trans people, and anyone who woke up feeling like a second-class citizen.
Today is a difficult day, John. And while we can’t know exactly what comes next, we want you to know:
We’re not giving up, and we’re not going away.
In a time when legacy media have too often enabled Donald Trump’s lies, we believe independent local journalism is our best hope to fight back. We believe that to defeat fascism and heal our divisions, we must have the courage to stand up for what’s right and speak the truth—no matter how uncomfortable that truth might be.
As COURIER’s Mark Jacob wrote today:
“We can’t hide from the disaster of these times. We ignore it at our peril. We have to fix it.”
We’re grateful for everything you’ve done and continue to do to support COURIER and our democracy. We’re honored to continue this fight with you by our side.
In solidarity,
The COURIER Newsroom Team
