Salaam John,
Donald Trump’s victory, while not the outcome we had hoped for, marks the culmination of a journey that we are incredibly proud of. I want to thank our incredible staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who stood with us and our community during this challenging year. With the indiscriminate violence in Gaza and Lebanon still ongoing, and xenophobia on the rise at home, we remain committed to building our community’s civic power and engaging decision-makers at all levels of government.
During this election cycle, Emgage Action worked tirelessly to mobilize Muslim voters across the country in support of our pluralistic democracy. We’re proud to share highlights of our collective efforts to empower the Muslim American community this election season:
- 115,000+ doors knocked to connect with voters in our neighborhoods.
- 550,000+ phone calls made to inform and engage members of our community.
-
2,150,000+ text messages sent to encourage participation in this critical election.
Our commitment to protecting the Muslim American community at home and abroad grows stronger with every step forward. Together, we must use every tool we have to prevent any infringement on our fundamental human rights. We have stood together before, and we will continue to stand strong, united in our resilience.
However, we will not allow bad actors to place the blame for Trump’s victory on any group or community in an effort to divide us. It is now time that we come together as a community. We have a difficult road ahead of us, and we must remain clear-eyed on what’s next.
It is our responsibility as leaders and advocates to remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting our civil rights and religious freedoms. We still have the power to enact change and advance policies at the local and state level that put the needs of working families first. Progress does not happen overnight. We must come together to block the harmful policies that may come our way and remind elected officials of their duty to protect our fundamental rights, safety, and security.
We urge Donald Trump to do everything in his power to deescalate the situation in the Middle East, respect international and humanitarian law, end the indiscriminate violence in Gaza and Lebanon, and refrain from stoking the flames of hate. The American people have spoken, and it is time to focus on addressing the opportunities and needs that await us at home and abroad.
Our dedication to collective action is essential to uphold our values and advocate for our interests. We remain committed to working together to protect the progress we’ve achieved and to advance the change we have been striving toward.
The next four years will bring new opportunities, and we are determined to make this chapter one of unity and hope, not hate and division. We call on the Muslim American community and our allies to join Emgage Action in the fight for our collective rights and freedoms. Together, we will build the future that we all deserve.
