Together, we'll keep making a difference for families facing crisis—no matter how challenging the moments may seem.

John: The results of the U.S. presidential election are in, with Donald Trump as the next President of the United States. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) calls on the Trump administration to continue America's traditions of humanitarian leadership and care for the most vulnerable people.

We will remain steadfast in our work, no matter the challenge, to put our clients first and to serve them where and when they need us most.

Nearly 300 million people worldwide need humanitarian assistance and protection. Millions are forced to flee conflict or disaster, including more than 120 million people displaced with 50 million outside of their home countries.

Now more than ever, America's leadership is crucial in addressing the growing humanitarian crises and ensuring that assistance reaches those in dire need.

The IRC remains committed to the safety, dignity and well-being of our clients and staff, and to upholding core principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence.

Every day, the IRC works to help people affected by humanitarian crises—to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. This life-changing work is only possible thanks to your support. And I hope you know that your support for refugee and displaced families is a powerful force for good.

John: It's a tough time. Election news, disturbing rhetoric and uncertainty fill the headlines, making it feel hard to stay hopeful. It's easy to feel disheartened by the challenges we face, as a country and as a global community.

But I hope you know that your support for refugee families is a powerful force for good. Thank you for believing in a world where hope and humanity always prevail. 💛

In the midst of it all, stories of courage and resilience continue to remind us of the impact we are making together.

That's why I wanted to share this special and uplifting video with you:

Hazar Hussaini hugs his daughter Sitara after being reunited at the Salt Lake City International Airport. Sitara and two of her sisters were separated from their family for two years in Afghanistan.

This video gives a glimpse at how your compassion, generosity and action are making a real difference. It's a testament to the power of community and to people like you who show up when it matters most.

The International Rescue Committee plays a vital role in welcoming and providing resettlement and integration services for refugees and asylum seekers.

We operate in 29 offices across the U.S. to welcome and support newly arrived families by providing immediate aid, including food, housing, medical attention, business support, legal services and much more.

Your compassionate support helps to make this life-changing work possible. Thank you.

I hope the beautiful video brings you the same sense of hope it brought me.

PICTURE: Gloria Etshumba was just 5 years old when she was separated from her family in the Democratic Republic of Congo. 13 years later, Gloria reunited with them in Boise, Idaho, with the help of the IRC. Gloria is pictured here with her little brother, Jordan.

Together, we'll keep making a difference for families facing crisis—no matter how challenging the moments may seem. 💛

With gratitude,
