Friend,
Early this morning, media outlets called the election for Donald
Trump.
We’ve known all along that this was a possibility, but it didn't
make it easier to wake up to this news or explain it to my children
before school.
My whole being aches, but I have clarity. Our movement to build the
multiracial democracy we deserve will not stop under another Trump
presidency; historically, we have seen it grow.
We are prepared and have been building the coalition we need for
this exact moment. A coalition to protect our freedoms, families, and
futures. A coalition with deep connections to our partners and allies
in the fight. This week, and in the weeks ahead, we will share that
preparation with you.
Tomorrow: Thursday
at 8pm ET, join 200+ progressive organizations for a community-wide
post-election mass call.
Then Sunday: At
8pm ET, join Bend the Arc and the Kirva Institute for What Now?
Power and Resilience After the 2024 Election.
Sunday night, we’ll process this pivotal moment and gather strength
for the work ahead, with insights and guidance from community leaders,
experts, and clergy. We’ll discuss what the election results mean,
share concrete steps we can take as Jews and allies in the coming
weeks and months, and encounter Jewish wisdom and practices that can
help us build resilience for navigating these turbulent times.
Because for millennia, our Jewish ancestors have lived
under governments that ranged from friendly to hostile; from welcoming
to brutal. They not only learned how to survive, but developed the
tools to thrive and experience the joys of life under any
circumstance.
May we learn from our ancestors and contribute these lessons to our
broader movements, knowing that collectively we have the wisdom and
resilience to face the struggles ahead.
The goal of authoritarians is to erode our will to resist, but they
only win when we give up. They seize power through a
divide-and-conquer strategy — we take it back through solidarity.
Thank you for being on the right side of history, whether you
voted, helped other voters, donated, or spread the word to your
neighbors. You are needed in this work more than ever.
In solidarity,
Jamie Beran CEO, Bend the
Arc
