Pursue a passion, learn a new skill, and expand your network
** What you do after school matters

Girls For A Change (GFAC) is excited to launch our 2024-2025 programs! Step outside the classroom and dive into new adventures, gain valuable skills, and connect in sisterhood. Explore one of our inspiring programs this fall and unlock new possibilities for growth, creativity, and community!
Take your sewing skills to the next level and deepen your understanding of sustainable fashion! Designed for students with a basic knowledge of sewing, this class will expand your skills with more advanced techniques, tools, and creative projects. Participants will build confidence using a sewing machine, follow and create patterns, and tackle intermediate-level challenges.
In addition to learning the essentials, we’ll focus on sustainability—exploring how to repurpose materials, reduce waste, and design unique pieces that are both fashionable and eco-friendly. Through this approach, students will gain insight into the world of sustainable fashion and learn how small choices in design can help protect the planet.
At the end of the program, students will showcase their creations at a celebratory event where they’ll share their artistic work and discuss how their designs contribute to environmental conservation. This program is open to middle and high schoolers, so join us to build your sewing skills, contribute to sustainable fashion, and celebrate creativity with impact!

The first class starts Tuesday, December 3, with an Information Session on Tuesday, November 19

Participants will immerse themselves in the world of travel and sustainability with Cross Cultural Talks. Guided by Sistah Robinnette, they’ll journey across Richmond, Virginia, exploring the diverse cultures and countries of the African continent, while learning about sustainability and resourceful travel. Together, participants will team up to create their own “Green Book of Travel” as a guide to respectful and mindful exploration.
This program offers a unique opportunity to foster social change, preparing participants for an enriching trip to Ghana in 2026. They’ll build a deep appreciation and respect for cultural history and the richness of their roots, developing awareness and love for the heritage that connects us all. This program is open to middle and high schoolers. If you have a passion for travel, culture, and social impact, we hope you’ll join us!
