In Southwestern Kenya, school feeding is the lowest in the country, at 0.4-2.3% ([link removed] ) . The government school feeding programs only reach 17% of schools. That is why Rise Against Hunger has partnered with Rural Family Hope on the Feed for Knowledge project to support seven schools.

These schools all have poor water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions. Malnutrition in the area is around 26-49%, which is worse than the country average. With the Feed for Knowledge project, we provided nutritious meals ([link removed] ) to students in all the schools while advocating for the development of sustainable food production systems.

In the first year of the project, participating schools saw a 17% increase in enrollment ([link removed] ) and an increase in attendance ([link removed] ) . At least 20,000 liters of water are now available at all participating schools where students didn’t previously have access to water.
