Create a Forgiving Attitude Toward Yourself
We would often be left speechless if someone treated us the way we treat ourselves. We can easily shame, blame or guilt ourselves when we make any mistake, however small. But we deserve the same graceful response to our own behavior that we expect to give and receive from others. We deserve compassion.
If we aren't loving toward ourselves, we contribute to a vicious cycle of self-doubt and sinking self-esteem. It's when we feel badly about ourselves that addiction may find an opportunity to take hold. To break the cycle, it's important to learn some strategies to stay objective, positive and forgiving toward ourselves.
