[1]Eugene Vindman for Congress
It’s Eugene Vindman. My race was just called, and I’m honored to say that we have won this election!
First and foremost, I want to thank you. With the support of those across Virginia's 7th, the Commonwealth, and this grassroots army, we accomplished something together that many didn’t think was possible.
It is a testament to the power of the American experience, that an immigrant who escaped a Soviet Regime and came to this great nation with less than $700 in our pockets, would now stand here as a Congressman-elect of the United States House of Representatives.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. We would not be here today without you and your unwavering support.
Now, the real work begins.
As your Congressman-elect, I will do everything in my power to defend our democracy on a national level.
I will stand in the way of extreme politicians who want to strip away basic healthcare rights from women because I refuse to live in a world where my daughter grows up with fewer rights than her mother and her mother before her.
I will work with my colleagues in the 119th Congress to lower the cost of living, strengthen and secure our border, and continue to fix and invest in infrastructure across our country.
I will work with everyone, regardless of party, to address these issues and make sure our country delivers for all.
The deep polarization that grips Washington has made it difficult to accomplish meaningful change for Americans in recent years, yet I remain optimistic that we can still cut through the gridlock.
I served in the military for 25 years, and when we were jumping out of airplanes it didn’t matter to me the color, creed, background, race, or party affiliation of the person next to me.
What mattered was getting the mission done. We need more of that type of mission-driven thinking in Congress — more leaders willing to lay down the arms of partisanship and instead pick up the mantle of collaboration.
In Congress, I will work to get the mission done, because the stakes are too high to fail. And I will not let you down.
Thank you.
Eugene Vindman
