Mayor Bass Supports Governor Newsom’s Historic Proposal to Expand the Film & TV Tax Credit Program

California’s Film & Television Tax Credit Program, which was originally created when Mayor Bass served as Speaker of the California State Assembly, has generated tens of billions of dollars in investments while creating nearly 200,000 jobs. The proposal would expand the program to $750 million annually, a massive increase from the current $330 million annual allocation. Mayor Bass signs Executive Directive to Repair Streets, Clean Parks and Enhance Infrastructure Projects and City Services Ahead of Major, Upcoming World Events

Mayor Karen Bass’ executive action will support the City’s work to ensure much needed infrastructure improvements to Los Angeles. The directive will also improve City department coordination to complete projects more efficiently and cheaper, align with voter-approved Measure HLA and ensure L.A. has its first comprehensive long term plan for all investments on streets, parks, and public spaces to guide this. Mayor Bass Commends the Public Safety Committee’s Vote to Advance LAPD Nomination to the Full City Council

Mayor Karen Bass commended the Los Angeles City Council Public Safety Committee following their vote to advance the nomination of Jim McDonnell to serve as the 59th Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department. During the Public Safety Committee meeting, the five member committee discussed McDonnell’s qualifications, experience and priorities for the City of Los Angeles and keeping residents safe. More RVS Addressed and Unhoused Angelenos Brought Inside In the San Fernando Valley

Mayor Karen Bass announced an Inside Safe operation in Pacoima in partnership with Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez. The operation brought more than 15 unhoused Angelenos inside and removed recreational vehicles (RVs) from an encampment near local businesses and trucking centers. “We know that ending homelessness in Los Angeles requires urgency and commitment from many partners,” said Mayor Karen Bass. With the support of her Community Engagement Team, Mayor Bass is leading a series of “Neighborhood House Gatherings” across Los Angeles, including in Mar Vista, Angelino Heights, West Adams, El Sereno, Woodland Hills, San Pedro, West Adams and more (pictured above). Residents have shared their priorities and ideas on topics ranging from public safety and homelessness to affordable housing, beautification and beyond. These conversations underscored the importance of coming together as a city to tackle these challenges and build a stronger, more united Los Angeles.
