You voted, you knocked doors, you made calls and you talked to friends. Now the polls are starting to close. We are so thankful for your activism.

Hi John,

The polls are starting to close in places around the East Coast, but our team is still out there on the doors and the phones to get every last person to vote tonight.

Remember:

  • If you are waiting to vote and the polls close, stay in line.
  • If you or anyone you know is having any problems voting, call or text our Election Protection Hotline immediately: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).
  • Polls are still open in a number of states. If you have time to volunteer, find a virtual or in-person volunteer opportunity right now. We need you.

Before we find out who our next president will be (and we may not even know tonight), we wanted to say: THANK YOU. This has been a roller coaster of an election year, with emotions running high and stakes that are even higher. We are so proud of everything that our labor family has done to dig deep and elect pro-worker, pro-union candidates up and down the ballot.

Together, the AFL-CIO and our affiliated unions engaged with some 7 million battleground state voters in person (and counting!)—a massive feat that’s a testament to the unparalleled commitment of union volunteers who worked day and night to secure a better future for all our families.

Our election officials need to do their jobs now to ensure every vote is counted safely and accurately. Unions were the boots on the ground in this election, and now we’ll be the boots on the ground to help ensure every vote is counted and the people’s will is respected in the final outcome.

Thank you again for all that you’ve done—our voices matter and our solidarity makes us strong.

In Solidarity,

Team AFL-CIO
