Good afternoon,

Happy Election Day! It appears crowds dwindled at former President Trump's rallies as his campaign came to a close. "Trump often uses his audiences as an indicator of his support" and in this election in particular, he has used his crowds to back up his confidence that he has secured the presidency. Yesterday, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump completed their final campaign pushes in the same part of Pennsylvania – arguably the most critical state in this year's election. With nearly 80 million Americans voting early, it's clear voters are ready to make their voices heard in this highly charged presidential race.

Here are a few important updates ...

ELECTION TRENDS TO WATCH FOR

• We know Americans are eager to know the outcome of the 2024 election. To ease those anxiously waiting in anticipation, we have a few trends voters can watch for that may offer some clarity. For one, Hamilton County, IN has become more competitive in recent years. If it flips to the Democrats column, it could signal Harris winning suburban voters and women voters. Similarly, if Virginia is called before 9PM ET, it will signal strength for Harris, but if the call drags past midnight, it could signal a Trump victory in the battleground states.

• There will be an early red mirage in the electoral college and in some battleground states due to the quirks of poll closing times and smaller, less populated municipalities reporting their results before cities and suburbs. However, if turnout in those early reporting areas is lower than in prior years or if Trump's margin is smaller than in prior years, it could signal the election trending toward Harris.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH ELECTION RESULTS

• With the 2024 election being extremely close, it may be several days before we know the results of the race. Below we have laid out what to expect in the coming days:

• Tuesday, 11/5 – 7PM – 10PM ET: Most results from GA and NC are expected, but if these races are close they may not be called. Additionally, partial results from PA, WI, and MI are expected and near-complete results from VA, FL, OH, and CO are expected.

• Tuesday, 11/5 – 10PM – Midnight ET: Most results from GA, NC, and potentially MI are expected, but if these races are close, they may not be called. Additionally, partial results from PA, WI, and AZ, and initial results from NV are expected.

• Wednesday, 11/6 – Midnight – 6AM ET: Most results from WI and MI and partial results from PA, AZ, and NV are expected.

• Wednesday, 11/6: Most results from all states, particularly PA, AZ, NV, MI, and WI are expected. However, if results are very close in any state, the race still may not be called.

• Thursday, 11/7 and beyond: Results may continue to trickle in from all states, particularly PA, NV, and AZ. In NV, ballots can continue to arrive through 11/9 and voters can cure ballots through 11/12.

• Late counting: In PA, we expect tens of thousands of provisional ballots that will be counted starting 11/8. In NC, there may be challenged ballots that are not counted until 11/15.

• If results are very close in any state, the race still may not be called.

• GOP leadership elections are scheduled for November 13, 2024.

• Democrats have yet to set a date for their leadership elections.
