John, I’ll be frank.

Joe Biden wasn’t our first, second or third choice for president.

But with Bernie suspending his campaign, we joined allies in the
progressive youth movement to call on Joe Biden to #EarnOurVote.

A month ago, we wrote to the Biden campaign demanding key policy and
personnel commitments. Today, we won a major victory. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, Pramila Jayapal, Darrick Hamilton, Abdul El-Sayed, Sara
Nelson, Stephanie Kelton, Varshini Prakash, and a host of other leading
progressives were just appointed to the Biden campaign task forces put
together by the former vice president and Bernie Sanders.

To earn the vote of progressives and younger voters, Joe Biden needs to
show he hears the millions of voters and volunteers that make up our
movement. This is a step in that direction, but we have to keep holding
him and his campaign accountable.

We’ve heard from so many of you on social media and over email about Joe
Biden. The reality is that many in our movement — rightly so — have
serious concerns about the vice president’s campaign, platform, and
record.

Personnel is policy. The progressives appointed to the task force are
going to push our party’s nominee to create a robust policy response to
the pandemic and deliver relief for millions of Americans. That’s a good
thing. And it shows the power of our progressive movement is growing
within the Democratic apparatus.

The task forces are just one part in the fight ahead to usher in a new
generation of leaders and defeat Trump. We have a lot more work to do.
