Dear John,
Thank you for reading my monthly newsletter and following what I’m doing to represent the Borders, help local people, and stand up for the issues you care about.

Are you concerned about the proposed Cross Border Connection project?
I am hosting a ** public meeting ([link removed])
on Saturday 9th November between 1pm and 3pm at Caddonfoot Hall. SP Energy Networks representatives will be present to listen to your concerns.
We must protect
the Borders countryside!

This Friday, I will host an advice and information fair for pensioners.
The event at the Tait Hall in Kelso will take place from 11am to 2pm.
It will allow older people to find out about services and support on offer in the Scottish Borders.
I’m delighted to be hosting this important event to help give pensioners in the Borders the information and support they need and deserve.

My Small Business Awards are back for the third year to mark the best local enterprises in the Borders.
Our communities are blessed with so many great local shops, services, cafes, and enterprises of all kinds.
I would urge everyone to nominate their favourite small business so we can recognise their brilliant service and help to give them a little more support.
Nominations will close on 29 November and the winners will be announced around Small Business Saturday which is taking place on 7th December.

Labour have introduced a Family Farm Tax in their Budget that could have devastating consequences.
Labour's changes to agricultural property relief could be catastrophic for the future of farming in the Borders.
There is a serious risk that family-run farms will be forced out of business.

I am appalled that Labour decided to scrap plans to dual the A1 after years of campaigning to improve this vital road.
This road connects the Scottish Borders to England. It’s vital for our economy, it supports jobs and helps to promote trade.
This is yet another terrible decision by Labour in the Budget which will have damaging consequences for workers, families and businesses across the Borders.
I will keep campaigning for better roads across the Borders, despite Labour and the SNP refusing to make the improvements that motorists need.

If I can help you with anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,
John Lamont MP
