CLEAN ENERGY INSIDER
NOVEMBER 5, 2024
REAMS REPORT
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It’s Election Day, and you can bet that I’m casting my vote for leaders who want to reduce emissions using American ingenuity and resources. The CRES team is watching closely to see how the wins and losses in this year’s election will shape the future of American-made clean energy. Count on us to keep you informed on what these results mean for the policies and programs advancing affordable, reliable clean energy solutions.
Next week—hopefully after all the votes are counted—our team is headed to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP29. This trip offers a critical opportunity to showcase on a global stage conservative leadership on climate action and why Republicans must have a seat at the climate decision-making table.
At COP29, our mission is to emphasize that bipartisan collaboration is imperative for global commonsense climate solutions that are durable and effective. The stakes are high and so is our commitment to spark productive discussions with a variety of stakeholders while on the ground in Baku and back home in the U.S.
Stay tuned for updates on COP29 as we share insights, event highlights and key moments across our social media channels. Whether it’s election results at home or climate conversations abroad, we’ll be bringing you the latest on efforts to advance clean energy and reduce global emissions.
Sincerely,
Heather Reams
CRES President
WHAT CRES IS SAYING
About the final advanced manufacturing tax credit rule...
“The U.S. Treasury Department’s final rule for the advanced manufacturing tax credit is a positive step towards onshoring critical supply chains essential for clean energy technologies. 45X will help our country produce minerals, materials, and clean energy technology at home – reducing reliance on foreign entities with poor environmental and labor track records. Going forward, we must enact additional policies that promote domestic mining to prevent the monopolization and weaponization of critical mineral supply chains by China. CRES looks forward to advocating for new policies necessary for securing our supply chains, lowering global emissions, strengthening American industry, enhancing our energy security and ensuring that we remain competitive in the global clean energy market.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement ([link removed]) .

Deseret News: Solar is a part of Utah’s all-of-the-above energy future ([link removed])
When people think of Utah, they often picture vast red rock landscapes, the Great Salt Lake and snow-capped mountains. What they may not realize is that Utah is becoming a leader in clean energy, demonstrating that an all-of-the-above energy approach isn’t just a talking point — it’s a reality.

The Bend Bulletin: Rep. Chavez-DeRemer walks the talk on clean energy and environment ([link removed])
When Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, R-Oregon, says she supports an all-of-the-above energy approach, she means it. Her track record in Congress, her vice chairmanship on the Conservative Climate Caucus (CCC) and her commitment to advancing clean energy and reducing global emissions is not just a political talking point.

RealClearEnergy: Keep Conservative Climate Champions in Congress 2024 ([link removed])
In the final days leading up to the election, polls show many races are neck and neck with the Presidential election looking incredibly close. However, not all polls are close; recent polling from Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) reveals one thing the majority of voters are certain about: Americans want to reduce carbon emissions, but not energy choices.

CRES Academy Recap: Nuclear 101 ([link removed])
CRES Forum hosted the sixth and final CRES Academy session of 2024, “Nuclear 101: The Role of Nuclear Technologies in Powering the Future.” The session explored the vital importance of nuclear assets for the future of energy in the U.S., including the different regulatory environments that nuclear utilities operate in, the deployment challenges that nuclear technologies face and the federal incentives that are helping support a nuclear renaissance in America.
