When We Vote We Win!

Dear Friends,

Today is Election Day, and I want to share a personal reflection. I became an American citizen in 1996, sworn in right here in Roanoke, Virginia—not far from where I will be tonight at the Harris-Walz victory party at Howard University. My first opportunity to vote was for President Clinton’s reelection. While every election has been important and has had lasting consequences, this one feels different—there is so much more at stake. That is why we must elect my friend, Vice President Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot.

Vice President Harris is the best candidate to move our country forward. She has consistently championed policies that uplift working families, protect our rights, and promote equality for all. Her experience as a prosecutor and Attorney General gives her a unique perspective on justice and reform, and her commitment to addressing climate change and healthcare access is crucial for our future. With her leadership, we can build a more inclusive and prosperous America.

In 2016, many of us took for granted what could happen, but this time, we know the stakes. We've witnessed firsthand the impact of a Trump presidency: the hate, the bigotry, the divisive rhetoric, the incompetence, and the radical far-right policies. We cannot afford to go back.

As we face one of the closest elections in decades, with polls indicating a dead heat, our actions matter more than ever. I urge you to reach out to friends, neighbors, family members, and colleagues. Make calls, send texts, write emails, and visit those in your community to emphasize the importance of voting. Everyone needs to understand what is at stake.

This election isn’t just about candidates; it’s about our values, our rights, and the future we want for ourselves and generations to come. Every vote is a powerful statement. Together, we can shape the future we envision.

I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported this effort—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word. Your commitment means the world to me.

Let’s make our voices heard today. The future is in our hands, and it starts with each of us casting our vote.
