John,
Today is Election Day, and we have the original Emerge woman Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket with more than 500 powerhouse Emerge alums up and down the ballot. We’re grateful for how far we’ve come on collective strength. But this isn’t just a moment – it’s a movement.
Emerge came directly out of VP Harris’ bid for San Francisco district attorney in the early 2000s.
Since our founding, Emerge has been building a woman-led America by recruiting, training, supporting, and electing women leaders nationwide and at all levels of government. Today, we are the nation’s largest network of women elected officials and candidates, with over 6,000 women trained, 1,200 women in office, and 500+ Emerge alums up and down the November ballot. This is what all our work comes down to – supporting Democratic women.
No matter what happens today, we’re committed to transforming the face of politics by centering our work on recruiting and training women of the New American Majority, including – Black, Brown, Indigenous, women of color, young women, LGBTQ+ women, and unmarried women who make up a growing number of this nation’s population.
If you haven’t voted yet – please make a plan to vote today. And, consider supporting our alums on the ballot today with an Election Day contribution. Will you contribute before polls close to help us support our alums finish strong?

A’shanti F. Gholar
