John,

It’s finally Election Day. In just a few hours, polls will close and states will begin to tabulate results.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean we can expect results tonight. Here’s why: In some of the critical swing states, election workers can’t count mail-in ballots until Election Day, when they’re also busy with in-person voting.

Michigan’s Secretary of State has already warned the state won’t know the results of the election until Wednesday. Pennsylvania and Wisconsin expect results even later.

We’ll talk about why this should worry you in a second, but if you want to support COURIER’s battleground newsrooms in this critical moment, can you chip in $25 now? [[link removed]]

Here’s the thing, John: how quickly votes are counted has nothing to do with the results of the election. But that won’t stop Trump and the right-wing from lying about it.

While we wait patiently for ballots to be counted, Trump and the GOP are going to fear-monger and spread conspiracies about voter fraud, undocumented immigrants, and stolen elections.

When there’s an information void, Trump and his allies will jump in to fill it with misinformation, desperately trying to convince Americans that a delayed result means there’s something wrong with the electoral process.

Remember 2020? Democrats made up the majority of absentee voters. Those votes were largely counted in the days following Election Day. Trump and his cronies cynically used that fact to allege that the election was stolen.

We can’t let it happen again.

Here at COURIER our election coverage will continue, far beyond today. Our swing state newsrooms are publishing directly in the social media news feeds and email inboxes where election lies are most likely to spread.

With your help we can correct the record and stand up to another bogus effort to steal the election.

We provide this service for free in the states that need it most, but we can’t do it without you. Can you chip in $25 now to fund our post-Election Day coverage? [[link removed]]
