LULAC Election Protection Team: Here To Help You Stop Voter Suppression In Its Tracks
This election season, our Latino community is facing a surge of misinformation and voter intimidation tactics designed to discourage us from participating in the electoral process. Intimidation may take many forms and encompasses not just violent but also nonviolent and subtle forms of conduct. At LULAC we have a team on standby ready to help with Election Protection resources to combat these forms of voter suppression and safeguard our right to vote.
If you encounter misinformation or experience voter intimidation, please document the incident at lulac.org/gotv/mi-gente/election-protection/. Your submission will be reviewed by a dedicated team of attorneys focused on resolving concerns immediately, and we’ll follow up immediately to provide support. If you don’t hear back from us within an hour, you can also reach us at 877-MI-LULAC (877-645-8522).
Some examples of incidents you should report include:
- Polling locations that were moved or closed
- Disruptors at polling places or anyone who tries to prevent you or others from voting or accessing the polling places
- Voting intimidation tactics at or near polling locations
- Being denied the right to votes despite being in line to vote before the polls officially close.
Thank you for staying vigilent and safeguarding our right to vote by reporting any misinformation or voter intimidation you encounter.
in solidarity,
Juan Proaño, LULAC CEO |
