The South Carolina General Assembly has expanded absentee ballot access for all South Carolina voters leading up to the June 9 primary!
The South Carolina Democratic Party had earlier filed suit with the South Carolina Supreme Court for COVID-19 to be a reason to request an absentee ballot.
Over the last few months, we’ve created a full-time voter protection unit at the state party dedicated to doing everything we can to expand ballot access and protect every South Carolinian’s right to vote without interference.
In historic action, legislators - both Democrats and Republicans joined together to extend absentee ballot access for all South Carolina voters. Now anyone who wishes to cast a ballot in the June 9th primary is permitted to do so via mail, without risking their health to vote.
Our work is far from finished. The General Election in November is not covered under this legislation and it will require lawmakers to come together once again to protect each voters right to safely exercise their right to vote. We know it will be an uphill climb, but we will not shrink from the challenge.
