For those of you who I haven’t formally met, I’m Rusty, Chair of the California Democratic Party.

I am burning the midnight oil getting my team ready for our huge Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) mobilization tomorrow. Our organizers and volunteers are going to deploy in some of the most competitive precincts of the most competitive swing states.

We’ve planned for this, and we are ready to take back the U.S. House blue by flipping seats here in California.

My only fear is that we will unexpectedly run short on resources and not have the extra budget to respond. That’s why I asked to send this email out with the goal of raising $15,000 for a special Election Day Fund. Will you consider making a gift?

I’m not a natural fundraiser, John. I’m an organizer at heart.

Like you, I sometimes get annoyed with emails and texts asking for money. Because my focus isn’t on cash, it’s on talking to undecided voters and getting committed Democrats to the polls.

But the simple truth is that I do have a budget and it costs real money to go door-knocking, print literature, and get voters to the polls.

I don’t want us to fall short tomorrow because we didn’t have the funding needed to be flexible and respond to every single twist and turn. Not after all the work we’ve done.

We’ve made over 5M phone calls. We’ve knocked on over 600K doors. We’ve talked to over 200K voters.
