Dear Friends of Valley of the Sun United Way,


I hope this note finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. As a friend and supporter of Valley of the Sun United Way, I want you ensure you’re among the first to receive our COVID-19 Community Response Report, so you’re updated on our response thus far.


I’m proud of how Valley of the Sun United Way continues to quickly mobilize critical resources and relationships to meet the urgent needs of our most vulnerable children, families and individuals in our community. We’ve made an incredible impact since launching the United for the Valley COVID-19 Fund six weeks ago and our work continues.


Like many organizations and businesses across the nation, local nonprofits felt the severe economic impact of the crisis at the same time that requests from struggling individuals and families were at record highs.


Through current and new partnerships, as of May 8, the United for the Valley COVID-19 Fund has raised nearly $2.6 million and we’ve distributed $1.29 million to 65 of our nonprofit and school partners, on the front lines, throughout Maricopa County. Community grant funding is providing support, in real time, in areas such as: emergency food, homelessness prevention, technology for youth for virtual learning and overall organizational capacity support. We are also collaborating in lock step with the Arizona Community Foundation, making several collaborative grants and ensuring we are, together, having maximum impact.
