Bernie founded Our Revolution because he has always understood that transformational change never happens without sustained grassroots mobilization. That’s exactly what Our Revolution has delivered by building 600 active groups with the proven ability to drive national change.
Over the past three and a half years, Our Revolution groups have helped elect more than 200 progressive candidates at all levels of government — from city halls to the halls of Congress. This includes progressive champions like Marie Newman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Chesa Boudin, and many more.
Our Revolution members have helped to pass over 50 ballot initiatives to raise wages, expand health care, and reform our broken criminal justice system in counties and states all across the USA.
This movement has also led the effort to transform the Democratic Party by limiting the role of superdelegates, democratizing party registration, and created a new DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council to fight for policies that put our planet’s survival before profits.
Recently, Our Revolution activists in Wisconsin, Nebraska, Massachusetts, and California played an important role in securing the recent deal struck with the Biden campaign that will allow more progressive influence over the Democratic Party rules and policy platform.
Several of our allies, including Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have now been appointed to the joint policy task forces that are shaping the Democratic Party’s 2020 platform.
Local groups were also critical in the effort to get the Democratic Party to adopt Bernie’s policy to restore democracy by publicly financing elections and getting big money out of politics. The 2020 platform will now likely include support for a constitutional amendment to get all private money out of politics — a massive win for our democracy at a time of crisis.
