This 2024 election cycle, Vote Mama has proudly endorsed over 200 pro-choice Democratic moms running for office: from School Board to Congress.

Our trailblazing 2024 mamas are fighting to defeat MAGA extremism at all levels of government in some of the most competitive races across the country that will have national impact. Issues like abortion, climate change, child care, education, gun reform, and democracy itself are on the line.


Below are some of the most crucial races-to-watch in the 2024 General Election tomorrow: featuring our incredible Vote Mama candidates!

FOUR BATTLEGROUND STATES

ARIZONA: Democrats need to flip just 2 seats in each chamber of the state legislature to achieve a majority which makes Arizona the closest state legislature in the country to flipping AND securing a Democratic trifecta. Meanwhile, Arizona’s reproductive rights are on the line with the ballot measure Proposition 139, which would amend the state constitution to provide for the fundamental right to abortion.

GEORGIA: Once again, Georgia will play a pivotal role in this year’s election. The state played a key role in 2020 when Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump with an extremely thin margin of less than a quarter of a percentage point. A handful of votes could determine the outcome in Georgia, so generating voter turnout in Georgia is instrumental to driving Democratic victories up and down the ballot: all the way up to Vice President Kamala Harris.

MICHIGAN: In 2022, mamas flipped the Michigan State House and Senate to win a Democratic majority for the first time in 40 years. And now in 2024, it will be our mamas who will protect and expand Democrats’ slim majority. Vote Mama proudly has a 100% win rate in Michigan, and our current slate of trailblazing Michigan mamas is ready to continue the success in the general election on Tuesday.

PENNSYLVANIA: Democrats have a razor-thin majority of just ONE SEAT in the Pennsylvania State House. Meanwhile, Republicans currently control the State Senate with 28 seats, meaning we need to flip THREE seats to be in a 25-25 deadlock. Vote Mama’s endorsed moms are working to defend the House and take more competitive seats in the Senate for Dems in this key swing state.

FIVE CONGRESSIONAL SEATS

Experts are saying that Democrats have a real chance of flipping the U.S. House of Representatives in this election. Right now, the GOP holds the majority with just five seats. Vote Mama has endorsed 10 pro-choice mamas who are running to win key seats — including these outstanding candidates who have received official “Red To Blue” status by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC):

• Janelle Bynum (OR-39)
• Whitney Fox (FL-13)
• Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) [*Named top Dem protect seat]
• Missy Cotter Smasal (VA-02)
• Laura Gillen (NY-04)

But flipping 5 seats alone won’t be enough for Dems to take back the House — we must also DEFEND important seats that our moms currently hold that Republicans are targeting like that of Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Rep. Jahana Hayes (CT-05), and Rep. Kim Schrier, (WA-08).

Additionally, in the U.S. Senate, Democrats barely hold the majority, which means we need Vote Mama candidate Debbie Muscarel-Powell to unseat right-wing incumbent Senator Rick Scott in Florida if we want to expand the map.

Vote Mama's 5-Year Anniversary

Vote Mama celebrated our 5-Year Anniversary this past month where we were joined by supporters to celebrate all that we have accomplished as an organization in the last five years toward increasing the political power of moms — including helping OVER 500 pro-choice Democratic moms run for office against the barriers designed to keep women and moms out of politics.

The event featured special guest speakers: Actor/Activist Busy Philipps, Actor/Singer-Songwriter Amanda Seyfried, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Georgia Congresswoman Nikema Williams, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

Referencing Mean Girls, our speakers wore stylish pink suits and tweaked one of the film’s signature phrases: “On Wednesdays we wear pink. On Tuesday, we vote for mamas!”
