As you know, our entertainment industry is the backbone of our city and our region.

Last week, I joined Governor Newsom as he announced ([link removed]) a plan to more than double the California Film & TV Tax Credit.

What would that mean for our area? It means a major boost to increase CA-based production – keeping dollars here at home and creating thousands of local good paying jobs.

Our message to the industry has always been clear - we have your back.

When I was Speaker of the California State Assembly, I helped create the tax credit to begin with. Now it's time to grow it.

I'm proud to stand with Governor Newsom and industry leaders to continue this important work supporting Hollywood. ([link removed])

This follows urgent local action taken earlier this year to support the entertainment industry:
* Established an Entertainment Industry Council ([link removed]) to draw on the expertise of industry leaders to act on reversing this trend and to keep production local
* Supported the industry workforce, streamlined studio projects and strategized on policy that keep production and jobs in Los Angeles through Executive Directive 8 ([link removed])
* Created new studio and sound stage concierge services, which cut red tape and provide direct assistance with city departments. The program has helped 7 new studios and sound stages. In addition, 8.1 million square feet of soundstage, media production, and associated creative office space are in the pipeline within the City.

We will continue to push our city forward.
