Here’s what I really want to tell you, John: Thank you.

Thank you for putting your trust in me as North Carolina’s governor for the last eight years. Thank you for supporting my campaigns and standing with me even when I’m not on the ballot. Thank you for your steadfast commitment to creating a better state and a better country for future generations to inherit.

John, our work to restore women’s reproductive freedom, reduce the cost of health care, protect our climate from catastrophe, defend our democracy, and so much more doesn’t end tomorrow. One election is never the end of shaping our future.

We will have to keep fighting. There is no one else I’d rather have beside me in the trenches.
